Separated parents want to know they are accessing a safe environment for visits and changeovers at supervised contact centres. At Better Place Australia’s Children’s Contact Service Narre Warren and Sale, safety is our main concern. Our child-focused approach means that every decision we make is in the best interest of the child.
Andrew Lopez, our CCS Program Manager, explains: “We carefully assess each application to ensure it’s suitable for the Children’s Contact Service. If we determine that an arrangement may pose an unacceptable risk to the children, staff, or other service users, we are legally obligated to decline the application.
“As part of the safety measures, we stagger the arrival times of parents, ensuring they don’t cross paths during the visit. One parent will arrive 15 minutes early and the other parent will arrive 15 minutes later. If the first parent is delayed, we advise the second parent to wait and we facilitate the second parent’s arrival, so that there is no crossover and they don’t have to see each other,” explains Andrew.
