Two parents who have a young daughter separated and eventually the mum repartnered. This made communications more intense for the dad, so he initiated mediation through Better Place Australia Family Dispute Resolution (FDR).
FDR Team Leader, Eliza, shared “A lot of issues can arise when new partners come on the scene, because there are also blended families to consider.”
Eliza ran mediation in a shuttle format which means mediating one-on-one with each separated parent, as opposed to mediating with both in the same room. After speaking with the parents about what the issues were and the concerns relating to that. Eliza discovered that there was an added complication making it difficult for the separated parents to communicate.
Watch the case study video for how Eliza helped the parents work through care arrangements for their daughter without the increased tensions in the communication.
